Reading outside the box- Classic

Title: Jane Eyre
Retold by: Muriel Fyfe

Opinion: This book was interesting because the proper spoken English used, made the scene sound so much more realistic in this time of life because you could imagine them saying these sentences. The characters in this story are all very different as they have different family members with different personalities which have change themselves to be either nice, mean or crazy, so I found each little part they played, changed this book's conflict, these different personalities created conflict that was interesting.

Recommendation: Any age groups could read this book whether it was read to them or they were reading it because it is very clear and understandable and is a great story. Boys and girls could read this because the two main characters are a boy and a girl.

Blurb: This story is about a girl called Jane Eyre who had no parents and lives with her horrible Aunt after her Uncle left. Jane’s Aunt sent her to a girls school, everyone thought she was a horrible child from the stories her Aunt told, but one day her favourite person ever Miss Temple found out she was a kind little girl. When Jane was older and Miss Temple left to get married, Jane was no longer happy and decided to leave.
Later, when Jane is a governess at Thornfield, teaching a lovely little girl Adele who was not very talented. One day Jane fell in love with the owner of Thornfield, Mr Rochester. Soon, when they were about to get married there was an objection, they could no longer get married because Mr Rochester’s wife that he had married in Jamaica was still alive, but she was crazy.
Later, Jane leaves with no food, water and money, she finds a lovely home somewhere else and meets the people that live there, at first they were not fond of her but they grow to love her, especially when they found out they were related. When one of Jane’s relatives St. John asked to marry her, she said no because she did not love him, that’s when she goes back to Thornfield to see her true love, Mr Rochester. When she arrived, Thornfield is burnt down. She finds out what happened to Thornfield, it was burnt down by Master Rochester’s mad wife. Suddenly Jane is very worried and goes and visits Rochester. It turns out when he was trying to get to his wife she jumped and died, sadly Master Rochester lost his hand and he was also blinded. Reading outside the box- Award winner

Title : Ribblestrop Forever
Author : Andy Mulligan

Opinion : This book was exciting to read because the mature language used was a challenge for me. The conflict that goes on really hooked me in, the experience of ‘Ripplemoor’ come to my mind in an instant because the vivid descriptive language created a great picture.

Recommendation : I would recommend this to older age groups, 11-16yrs boys and girls because there are some tricky mature language and there is a mixture of genders for the main characters.

Blurb : It’s the end of the Easter holidays, and the Ribblestrop pupils are returning for the last term. Some of the Ribblestrop pupils had a crash in a plane when the pilot had a horrific heart attack, they landed on to the top of a bus driven by a bunch of students. Later, when they have been expelled from their school by one of the many adults who hate the Ribblestrop pupils, and teachers, set off to build their own tree-top settlement on Ripplemoor, living life as their ancestors did, working together as a community, and thoroughly enjoying the freedom it gives them.

Reading- Grey angels

As it is coming up to ANZAC Day, we had the task to create an advertisement about the qualities needed for a war nurse, this had to be as realistic as possible. Before creating this advertisement we read the story 'grey angels' to spot the qualities needed. We had the choice of how we would like to present it, I used 'Postermywall'.

Technology- USB Stick

Hard materials
Today we made the finishing touches onto our USB sticks that we have been creating this term in hard materials. This page below tells you about the steps I went through, and what I did to create this USB stick. We had the choice of our design and I chose a pineapple.
